Hisashi Watanabe holds a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the Osaka Institute of Technology. From 1990 to 2005, he worked in Shinjyu GLOBAL IP, writing and prosecuting Japanese and international patent applications for power transmission devices, fluid bearings, electrophotographic printing devices, optical recording media (such as the Blu-Ray Disc™), and other cutting-edge technologies. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Watanabe worked independently as a solo practitioner, and returned to Shinjyu GLOBAL IP in 2007. Mr. Watanabe has also distinguished himself by having an excellent command of English, so he can help foreign clients through the patenting process from translations, filing the applications in Japan, prosecuting the applications to grant in Japan, and handling invalidity appeals and infringement proceedings in Japan. His professional associations include membership in the Japanese Patent Attorneys Association and the Licensing Executive Society.
